If you are currently a freight broker, you probably enjoy selling and finding the right solution for your customers. What you may not like about your business is the administrative end of it; checking for insurance, invoicing, checking credit, paying carriers and phone bills and handling claims. We have a program that will relieve you of those responsibilities so you can do what you do best – sell freight services. <\/p>\n

If you become an agent for American Freightways, you\u2019ll get all the support you need and can perform your duties from the location of your choice. You can work from home or at our San Diego corporate office. If you work from home, you will need high speed internet, IP phone, and a fax machine. If you don\u2019t have a fax machine we\u2019ll set you up on your own internet based fax system. This minimizes your start-up expenses so you can get rolling sooner. All we ask is that you are reliable, self-sufficient and motivated to work hard. <\/p>\n

When you sign up with us, we provide you with our easy-to-use internet dispatch software, access to Internet Truckstop, Get-Loaded and more, and we relieve you of those tedious administrative functions. They are all handled at our office in San Diego. We pay carriers in 21 days and offer \u201cquick pay\u201d solutions for our carrier partners. We also provide fuel advances. You are not required to make a margin or percentage each month. We just want you to maintain a winning attitude, the rest should follow. <\/p>\n

For those just starting out, we now offer freight agent brokerage training so you can learn the skills you need. There are no formal educational requirements for a freight broker, but you must get licensed by the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Minimally, you should have a high school diploma or GED and high computer software proficiency. To succeed in this field, you must be highly organized, a good problem solver and good at time management. You should also have people skills that will help you interact with people from around the world.
